The King's Highlanders use Highland bagpipes,
the unmistakable sound of the rope-tensioned snare drum, and a
carefully researched repertoire to recreate the field music of the 18th and
early 19th century Highland regiments, as it could have been heard on
battlefields across Europe and North America from Ticonderoga to Waterloo. The
members of the King's Highlanders have played together from the streets of
New York City on St. Patrick's Day, to the competition fields of upstate
Highland Games with the Amerscot Highland Pipe Band, and the Ceol Gleann Pipes
and Drums, and regularly play for contra dances with the Walker Family.

The Sweet Clementines
Founded by two guitar-whiz English teachers, New Paltz-based six piece The Sweet
Clementines play a literate, lyrical, and musically sophisticated brand of
odd-pop. With an emphasis on substantial songs, the Clementines’ sound nods to
British invasion, psychedelia, folk, prog, and surreal cabaret without sounding
much like any of the above. Vibraphone and violin lend depth and texture to the
quirky, dreamy, baroque-pop arrangements. Their acclaimed new CD, though it
were the kiss of death, has been played on WDST, WFMU, and WVKR, and is
featured by the IndepenDisc Music Club, The band has been making its name with
performances at Bard’s Spiegeltent, The Falcon, Clun Helsinki, the Living Room
in New York City and at festivals, clubs and listening rooms throughout the
region.
