  • More Info: The tour departs from Beacon, NY and advance booking is required for all tours! Please wear comfortable shoes as there is some rough terrain on the walking tour portion of the experience. Strollers cannot be accommodated. There is a 72-step climb from the dock to the start of the tour (there is a rest stop along the way). Food and drinks are not included, but you can purchase snacks on board or bring your own food to eat on the boat only (no picnicking allowed on Pollepel Island).

Take a Memorial Day cruise at Bannerman Castle!

Enjoy a Memorial Day jaunt on the Hudson River! Just hop on board the Estuary Steward and ride over to Pollepel Island, a tiny jewel in the setting of the Hudson Highlands. The rich history and beautiful scenery of this place will provide a wonderfully enriching day for the whole family. The day includes a cruise to and from the island and a Bannerman Island Tour given by one of our Bannerman Castle Trust historians.

Tour Includes:

  • 30-minute boat ride over to Bannerman Island aboard the Estuary Steward.
  • Guided 1.5 hour walking tour of the island in which you will visit the famous Bannerman Castle ruins and gardens.
  • Visit to the Bannerman Garden and Bannerman Residence, where you’ll learn about all things Bannerman!
  • Return trip back on the Estuary Steward to Beacon where it all began.

Additional Information:

It is against Coast Guard regulations to put an infant on your lap to make room for another passenger. The Estuary Steward can only take 44 passengers and that includes all children and babies on your lap. All children tickets are $30.

There are no refunds or rescheduling for all activities. Please note your tickets are guaranteed, therefore BCT cannot resell your tickets. If you cannot use your ticket you are welcome to give it to someone else to use. The Estuary Steward and the Tour goes RAIN or SHINE. If the weather is too bad to take the boat out, the Captain will call the trip, only before the trip is scheduled to go.

If the captain cancels the trip, guests will be able to reschedule to another date. If a guest decides they do not want to come because of bad weather and the boat goes out for the tour, our cancelation policy stands. You will not be able to reschedule or get a refund. If it is raining, please bring rain gear.

Please note: Please be sure to arrive 30 minutes prior to departure time. In order to put on a show at Bannerman Island, we need to have 2 boat loads of 44 people. If you are on the first boat for the show at 6 pm, when you get to Bannerman Island, you will receive a guided tour of the island before the show. When the show is over, you will return to Beacon after the show is finished.

If you are on the second boat departing to Bannerman Island at 7 pm, you will be escorted to your seats for the show. After the show is over, you will be given a lecture of Bannerman Island, while you wait for the boat to return to pick you up. It takes about 50 minutes. We thank you for your cooperation.
